How a top location enables Fiege to offer top service

Tuesday, 10 September 2019

Situated in the Puurs Logistics Centre, Fiege benefits from a prime location right in the heart of Belgium’s logistic activity. Christoph Verhavert, HR Manager of the logistics company, explains how a collaboration between Fiege and Goodman resulted in the development of a warehouse that matched all of Fiege’s needs and expectations.

“As a logistics company, our location is very important for many reasons”, Verhavert explains. “Here in Belgium’s so-called golden triangle, we are situated along the A12 highway, which connects Antwerp and Brussels, and the N16. We are also close to the TCT container terminal in Willebroek. These facilities give us an easy connection to Brussels Airport, the port of Antwerp and the rest of the country.”

Fiege is a third-party logistics provider, which means they are responsible for the entire logistic process of their clients. “We stock, store and distribute”, says Verhavert. “Among our clients are multinational corporations like Makro and the Metro Group and MediaMarkt.” In order to provide these clients with the best possible service, a central location is crucial.

Understanding needs

In late 2017, Goodman and Fiege completed an extension of the warehouse, adding 29.000 sqm of warehouse spaces and offices. Goodman made sure the new facilities were equipped with an automatic sprinkler system and sustainability features, like dimmable LED lighting with motion sensors, infrared heaters and a rain water recuperation system. These initiatives help to reduce Fiege’s energy consumption costs. “We developed the new warehouse together with Goodman. Before and during the construction, the collaboration went very well. Goodman understood our needs and was able to accommodate all of our wishes.”
